Questions

What does Ledger do?

It reads a general ledger export, one row per debit or credit line, and answers four questions: can the file be trusted, what is the balance of every account, which entries deserve a second look, and who owes you and whom you owe. Every answer says why and opens to the lines behind it.

Which files can I upload?

Excel (.xlsx, .xlsm) and CSV, as exported by any accounting system. Headers can be in Arabic, English or French. Ledger finds the debit, credit, date, account, entry number, company, cost centre and party columns on its own, checks that entries balance with them, and you can change any of them.

How are entries chosen for review?

Each entry gets points for plain signals: an exact copy of another entry, reversed within days, a rare pair of accounts, a round amount, large for its account, posted at a weekend or month end, a manual entry, no description. Entries with the most points come first. It is a ranking by rules you can read, not a prediction.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free during the beta, with no sign-up and no cookies. A ledger can have up to 200,000 lines, and a file up to 25 MB.

What happens to my file?

It is kept in memory only to build your report, and deleted within 30 minutes. Nothing from your ledger is stored or shared, and your review marks stay in your browser. The results are suggestions for an accountant to review.

What do I get at the end?

A report on screen and an Excel working paper, in English or Arabic: the checks, the balances, the ranked entries and parties with their reasons, and the marks and notes you made.
